10 Practices with Pivot Power, part 1
Over the coming weeks I will be offering the top 10 practices that I believe possess Pivot Power, or the ability to support our desire to change the direction our lives are headed, in for the better.
We begin as always, centered in the truth that we are Living Expressions of the Conscious Intelligence that created everything seen and unseen in the Universe. Our personal power is permanently and unconditionally sourced in this Living Intelligence. This is our starting point, always.
Pivot Point #1 ~ PRACTICE OWNERSHIP AUTHORITY
The wisdom teaching here is, In order to change ANY of it you have to own ALL of it. I believe I screamed the first time this was imparted to me. It was conceptually repellent and emotionally untenable from my perspective back then. Over time, this wisdom persisted, as truth is wont to do.
If you’ve experienced it, it’s yours. Own it. It starts with your breath and your body, and in the space of a heartbeat it includes your mind, emotions and purpose, and continues to expand to include all your relations, choices and all their ripple effects. Own all of it. Sit in the center of your being and own what you are and have been. Then own all that you do and have done. You are the only possible authority in this space. Here is the full reach of your control. Take stock of your Self. This piece is about personal account-ability and agreeing to stop hiding from ourSelves.
Practicing Ownership Authority is the first step in the process of awakening into Unity Consciousness, into a personal awareness of your direct connection to the Living Conscious Intelligence of Life. Own it. Own the Core that we all share. It’s a paradox, not a mystery.
Intentional Ownership pivots us inwardly to a space we may have known about, but that has now been made larger by our choice to intentionally own and inhabit it. Our Core is our creative cauldron, our intuitive home base and our interface with our Living Intelligence. Begin and end your day here intentionally. Visit frequently during the day and watch how outer events are changed.
It’s a first step. You’ve opened your Self up to the Core. It eclipses ego, but you can still go crazy because more is required to stabilize this expanding interior space…
Pivot Point #2 ~ PRACTICE HONEST ATTENTION
Agree to pay attention honestly. Agree to tell yourSelf and others, only and always, just the simple truth. Our modern cultural institutions will not make it easy for you to be this way, but a surprising number of individuals will, and actually prefer honest relations…
The wisdom teaching here is, The worst lies are the ones we tell ourSelves. Self deception is Self betrayal. Committing to Practicing Honest Attention stabilizes our Core in Peace, and provides a kind of quiet certainty and confidence that can not be achieved any other way.
Still, many of our cultural institutions dogmatically impose the belief that all authority lies outside of us, and that we must conform to it to experience basic survival and acceptance. This is a false belief that only serves the ones promoting it, they who would see your childhood last your lifetime, and you, to remain a pawn in their plans.
When we agree to pay honest attention, we are naturally drawn inwardly into our Core to inhabit our own perspective. Here is where our questions and considered responses arise… questions about external elements in our life, and equally as important, questions to ourSelves about how we will respond to the people and events that surround us.
Traffic exclusively in truthfulness. Use words with accuracy and kindness, for a lie will never soothe, protect, promote or preserve well-being. Lies weaken us individually and collectively. Aside from Ownership Authority, nothing is as important as Honesty and Truthfulness to the purpose of personal change for the better.
